Case Study 1: SEO Assault Package

“I’ve been paying £300 per month, and I honestly don’t know what they’ve been doing!”

We received a phone call in April from a disgruntled cosmetic dentist in Central London. He had been paying £300 per month for the last 15 months for SEO services with a company claiming to be a specialist dental SEO firm.

During our initial conversation, he admitted that nearly all of his site traffic was generated by him as his previous SEO company had told him to keep searching for his own site each month on Google and to click on it to help his SEO.

On analysing the site, fundamental SEO was missing, the site was carrying a heavy duplicate content penalty and there was no social marketing attached to the site. On presenting his SEO company with our findings they informed the client “it’s not our fault, we’ve been leaving messages for Google but they haven’t got back to us!“. Shameful.

We immediately put our assault package into action, with real competitor analysis at the heart of our strategy and here are the real analytical snap shots 1 month after we went into to the site.

For the month of  March (01 March to 31 March), before we commenced any SEO services the site was receving around 300 clicks per month, mostly generated by the client themselves.

Please note:  These are genuine analytics snapshots from the clients own Google analytics account.
SEO for the Month of April

During the month of April, the SEO was fully deployed.

MAY ANALYTICS  - AFTER SEO DEPLOYMENT (traffic received between 01 May to 31 May)

NB: 72.45% of traffic equating to 1,023 unique visits were from organic Google Searches – NOT paid for advertising.  We also canceled all paid for listings which were expensive and generating very little traffic with no direct enquiries.

By the month of May, the site was receiving around of 1,300 natural organic site traffic and was rapidly climbing still.  We continue to provide the client with regular optimisation against competitors, analytics analysis and social marketing strategies.

Case Study 2: SEO Overwatch Package

“They take £100 a month from me, and all I get is an excel spreadsheet with arrows on it.  I don’t think they’ve actually done anything for my business.”

Last November we received an enquiry from a private detective firm in London. They had been paying £100 per month for SEO services, but after 2 years saw no improvements in their sites ranking or traffic.  Apparently each month they were simply provided with an excel spreadsheet of search phrases and whether their site had climbed or decreased. The information was much more basic than that provided free of charge by Google, which the SEO company had not installed on the site.  It seemed they didn’t know what it was.

On analysing the site we found that the site was carrying 2 forms of duplicate content penalties, 1 was caused by the design of the site itself and the other was improper redirection on the core domain (very common SEO issues).  There were also significant issues with the on-page SEO including ‘keyword spamming’ – an overuse of keywords reducing their effectiveness and no off-page SEO strategy.

We implemented the Overwatch package, providing tons of recommendations for their webdesigner to implement, immediately rectifying all the issues with the website, optimising the page content, page titles, urls, keywords, meta-descriptions.

Since the previous SEO company did not install analytics, we have no comparative data for the site.  However, within one month of the site changes, the client was receiving much higher volumes of enquiries for their big ticket key phrases and has referred us onto several companies!

Case Study 3: SEO Sledge Hammer

“I wouldn’t have a business if it wasn’t for Ossian SEO”

For every new business owner, establishing a customer base can be a daunting experience.  In July we were contacted by a newly qualified beautician who, working from home, needed an effective website to generate new trade.  With no established trade or regular income, the SEO Sledge Hammer was the obvious choice.

Within 2 months of the site going live, and competing against similar local salon based businesses, she now has a solid local client base receiving treatments in her home treatment room, all via the website.
